The borough of L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève is pleased to announce the creation of a new local park located in the Sainte-Geneviève sector, on the shore of the Rivière des Prairies, near du Moulin Street, de l'Anse Street and Gouin Boulevard.

The naming of Anse-aux-Rivard Park underlines the contribution of the Rivard family in the history of the village of Sainte-Geneviève and pays tribute to Adrien Rivard (1890-1969), brother of Sainte-Croix, who was director of the Cercles des jeunes naturalistes, and his brother Zotique Rivard (1901-1977), who was mayor of Sainte-Geneviève from 1925 to 1930.

The name l'Anse-aux-Rivard refers to the natural geography of this green jewel, which was also the site of Zotique Rivard's former general store.

"The creation of the Anse-aux-Rivard park is the result of a concerted vision and is part of the borough's avant-garde preoccupation with protecting natural environments on the territory, in addition to offering green spaces and rest areas for families. In addition, the naming of the new park highlights a family from the neighbourhood while promoting a sense of belonging and pride among residents. The development of this park is part of the revitalization project of the village of Sainte-Geneviève and includes the conservation of a heritage building," said Mayor Normand Marinacci.

In addition, at the Borough Council meeting of February 2, 2021, a contract in the amount of $1,567,964.72 was awarded to the company Les Constructions H2D Inc. for the development of the new Anse-aux-Rivard park. Part of this important investment comes from the City of Montreal. Consult the project presentation document.

Naming the park was made possible thanks to the invaluable collaboration of the Société patrimoine et histoire de l'Île-Bizard et Sainte-Geneviève (SPHIB-SG) and to the proposals made by citizens during the public consultation dedicated to this purpose.
