We, the residents and users of the neighborhood surrounding the Vendôme metro, would like to see the creation of a public market accessible to all. Based on a model that has already proved its worth in the vicinity of several other Montreal metro stations, a public market would bring many benefits to our community, giving residents easy access to fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, cheeses and other products, directly from local producers. It would promote healthy eating and support local farmers and artisans.
As well as being a place to shop, a public market is also a place to meet and socialize. It would enable residents to get together regularly, forge bonds and strengthen their sense of community. The Vendôme metro station is a nerve center of our neighborhood. The creation of a public market would contribute to the revitalization of this area, making it more attractive and dynamic.
