Dear members of Projet Montréal,

It is with deep conviction and a great deal of energy that I am standing as a candidate for the leadership of our party. For over ten years, Projet Montréal has embodied for me the courage to act. I joined this movement because I believed, and still believe, in a vision of Montreal that places ecology, social justice and citizen participation at the heart of its future.

I'm running today because I firmly believe that Projet Montréal must continue to be an engine of social transformation. As leader, I am committed to making housing, sustainable mobility, culture, the local economy and the development of the East the pillars of our action. We must be bold and innovative to build an inclusive city where every Montrealer can flourish.

I will not be the candidate of continuity, I wish to be the candidate of transformation.

My leadership is based on key values: integrity, fairness and responsibility. I'm determined to meet the challenges of our time with concrete solutions, like a tax vacation for housing NPOs or an Airbnb ban to protect our rental units. I want to mobilize the expertise and knowledge of merchants and entrepreneurs; make their jobs easier and give them wind in their sails. I've shown courage and boldness in creating sustainable mobility infrastructures, and I want to continue this approach throughout the city. I want to protect venues and support artists. I pledge that the person responsible for the East will have a dedicated portfolio and resources to achieve our goals.

With you, I want to give hope back to progressives and prove that our municipal model can inspire people far beyond our borders.

My commitment to Projet Montréal has been guided by a desire for concrete and bold transformation. First elected in 2013 as a city councillor in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and then sitting in opposition, I worked on the ground with the citizens of my district against the installation of a harmful industrial project in the heart of the neighborhood.

After Valérie Plante's victory in 2017, I sat as manager for democracy and citizen participation, then as manager for the ecological transition within our administration. I had the honor of piloting Montreal's first Climate Plan, a major milestone on the road to carbon neutrality.

Elected mayor of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension in 2021, I have focused my efforts on social equity and local vitality: creating green spaces, combating heat islands, developing bicycle paths and supporting the local economy. Thanks to initiatives such as “Bye Bye Concrete”, we have transformed asphalt spaces into living spaces for residents. We have strengthened the protection of our rental housing stock and secured funding for two new community centers.

Together, let's have the courage to act.
