Projet Montréal today unveiled the rules that will govern its leadership race. Following Valérie Plante's announcement on October 23 that she will not seek a third term, an election to select a new leader will be held on March 15, 2025.
Nominations will open on December 9 and close on January 31, 2025. To be eligible, candidates will need to collect the signatures of 200 members, from at least 7 boroughs, with a minimum of 10 signatures in each borough. A personal contribution to the party of $1,000 and the sum of $7,500 in donations to the party collected from the date of the official launch of the campaign are also required.
People wishing to vote in this ballot have until February 13 to become Projet Montréal members.
Important dates:
- December 9: start of the call for candidates for the leadership race
- January 31: end of nominations
- February 3: official start of the electoral race
- February 13: deadline for voting membership
- March 15: polling date

Patrick Cigana will chair Projet Montréal's electoral committee. Véronique DeSève will act as vice-president.
