Projet Montréal leader Luc Rabouin today unveiled his team for the borough of Saint-Laurent. Led by Youssef Shoufan, who will be running for borough mayor, the team will also include Robertine Tchouga and Nilufar Mamad for the Norman-McLaren district, as well as Matisse Nadeau-Décarie for the Côte-de-Liesse district.
With this team, Projet Montréal presents itself as the only progressive alternative in Saint-Laurent, offering a forward-looking vision in tune with the needs of the various populations of the borough.
Biography – Youssef Shoufan
Youssef Shoufan is a committed communicator, photographer and filmmaker who uses his talents to promote social change and justice. He arrived in Montreal in 1994 and co-founded La maison de la Syrie and the international collective Syrian Eyes of the World, in addition to collaborating with institutions such as BAnQ, Éducaloi, Exeko and the Pointe-à-Callière museum. Through his cultural, educational and community projects, he has given a voice to marginalized people and helped build bridges between communities here and elsewhere. A Gémeaux Award finalist and recipient of the YMCA Peace Medal, he is recognized for his sensitive and humanistic approach. A father of two and deeply rooted in his community, he wishes to put his experience, creativity, and listening skills to work for a more united, inclusive, and inspiring Montreal.
Biography – Robertine Tchouga
Robertine Tchouga is a nurse and has been a resident of Saint-Laurent for nearly 20 years. A healthcare professional for over nine years, she has worked in various institutions in Montreal, where she has developed solid expertise in team management, work organization and supporting vulnerable individuals. Committed to her community, she has also devoted time to volunteering with local organizations and the African Federation and Associations of Canada. Known for her listening skills, empathy and ability to bring people together, she now wishes to put her experience and energy to work for the residents of Saint-Laurent in order to build an inclusive, supportive, and people-oriented borough.
Biography – Nilufar Mamad
Nilufar Mamad embodies a new generation of committed leaders in Saint-Laurent. A graduate in economics from Concordia University, she quickly made her mark in student politics and citizen mobilization initiatives, promoting democratic participation and inclusion. As an elected representative and active organizer, she has helped create spaces where the voices of young people and diverse communities can be heard. Driven by a vision of social justice and sustainability, Nilufar now wants to transform this experience into concrete actions that serve residents, to build a borough that reflects the energy and diversity of its population.
Biography – Matisse Nadeau-Décarie
Matisse Nadeau-Décarie is a young professional committed to the environment and urban planning. With a bachelor's degree in environmental studies and soon to be a master's student in urban planning at the University of Montreal, she has worked as a sustainable development project manager for companies, institutions and community organizations. Through these experiences, she has helped organizations reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and transition to greener practices. Deeply involved in Montreal's democratic life, she has chaired Projet Montréal's Youth Commission and served on the party's Executive Committee. Driven by a deep commitment to social justice and citizen participation, she now wishes to put her energy and expertise to work for the residents of Côte-de-Liesse.
