The leader of Projet Montréal, Luc Rabouin, announced that Carla Beauvais will be the party's candidate in the Sault-au-Récollet district and that Anne-Marie Kabongo will be the party's candidate in the Bordeaux-Cartierville district for the upcoming municipal elections. He made the announcement on Wednesday following a visit to the Centre Toussaint, an organization that supports new immigrants based in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
Both candidacies were confirmed in a nomination vote held on August 12, thus confirming the borough's complete team.
A committed activist, social entrepreneur, and woman of action, Carla Beauvais has been working for over 25 years to build a more equitable society. Named one of the 100 personalities of the year in 2015 by The Gazette, she has mentored, trained, and highlighted hundreds of talented individuals from Quebec's Black communities. She is also co-founder of the Dynastie Foundation. She wishes to put her experience and vision at the service of the local community, with a commitment focused on equity, proximity, and collective responsibility.
A resident of Bordeaux-Cartierville for over 20 years, Anne-Marie Kabongo has a law degree and is active in the community. She has been involved with the Bordeaux-Cartierville Youth Roundtable, CLIC, and numerous local initiatives aimed at bringing the community together and improving residents' quality of life. She wants to put her in-depth knowledge of the field and her experience in mobilization to work for her community.
"Ensuring diversity in our political movement and in Montreal politics is fundamental to Projet Montréal. The arrival of Carla Beauvais to our team and the return of Anne-Marie Kabongo as a candidate are further demonstrations of this. Carla's remarkable career, rooted in the pursuit of equity and the promotion of talent from marginalized communities, echoes our belief that a strong city is one where every voice counts. With Anne-Marie Kabongo, Projet Montréal welcomes an exceptional woman who is deeply rooted in her community and determined to move Ahuntsic-Cartierville forward. She embodies our party's values: listening, commitment, and concrete action to build a fairer, more humane, and more united city. With their wealth of experience, Carla and Anne-Marie will make a decisive contribution to Projet Montréal's next term in office to build an ever fairer and more inclusive city," said Luc Rabouin, leader of Projet Montréal.
"I am running to serve my community. Ahuntsic-Cartierville is rich in diversity and talent, and I want to put my experience and energy to work for a neighbourhood where everyone feels heard, represented and supported. I deeply believe that lasting change starts at the local level, and that is what motivates me to get involved with Projet Montréal. " – Carla Beauvais, Projet Montréal candidate in Sault-au-Récollet.
"Bordeaux-Cartierville welcomed me more than twenty years ago and allowed me to build my life here. I want to give back to this neighbourhood everything it has given me by working to improve the quality of life for everyone. I want to be a bridge between residents, promote our diversity, and defend a political vision." – Anne-Marie Kabongo, Projet Montréal candidate in Bordeaux-Cartierville.
With this new candidate, the Projet Montréal team for the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville is now complete. It will be composed of Émilie Thuillier, candidate for borough mayor, Nathalie Goulet, candidate in the Ahuntsic district, Julie Roy, candidate in the Saint-Sulpice district, Anne-Marie Kabongo, candidate in the Bordeaux-Cartierville district, and Carla Beauvais, candidate in the Sault-Au-Récollet district.
