Montreal, August 25, 2025 — In a desire to respond first and foremost to the priorities of Montrealers, Luc Rabouin, leader of Projet Montréal and candidate for mayor, pledges that if elected, he will modify the Camillien-Houde Way redevelopment project on Mont-Royal and postpone it. This commitment is part of a desire to focus resources on priorities and ensure access to the mountain. That is why the project cannot move forward until we have confirmation that it is possible to integrate public transportation links to access the summit.

"The Camillien-Houde project is a good project, but we need to rework certain aspects to ensure that the population retains easy and efficient access to Montreal's green lung, particularly for seniors, people with reduced mobility and parents with young children. In the short term, my priority is to devote as many resources as possible to getting people off the streets and addressing the housing crisis. My second priority is to invest in neighborhoods that are already experiencing the effects of climate events such as flooding and extreme heat, which we are seeing more regularly. In a context where resources are limited, we must make responsible choices," said Luc Rabouin.

Investments for the priorities of Montrealers

If elected mayor, Luc Rabouin wants to invest first and foremost in urgent initiatives related to housing, homelessness, adapting the city to climate change and simplifying city operations. The realignment of the Camillien-Houde lane redevelopment project will allow budgets to be reviewed so that they can focus on short-term essentials.

"What people tell me on the ground is that they want to feel that their mayor and municipal officials have their priorities in the right place. Everyone talks to me about homelessness and the difficulty of finding affordable housing. This is undoubtedly the number one priority for the population, and it will be mine. Furthermore, the effects of climate change are already being felt, and we must accelerate our investments in order to prepare for this new reality. We must do everything we can, with the means at our disposal, to move forward collectively in this direction. I want to be the mayor who prioritizes projects that have a real impact on people's lives in their neighborhoods," added the leader of Projet Montréal.
