The Falaise Saint-Jacques, a precious ecological zone in the heart of Montreal, serves as a vital ecological corridor and is home to a rich biodiversity. It is also the backyard of the people of NDG, who have appropriated this space over the years. In the face of growing urban and environmental challenges, it is imperative to take steps to preserve and strengthen these natural spaces.
The City of Montreal is actively working to restore the cliff to its former glory and turn it into a nature park worthy of the name. In particular, we have purchased land to build the park entrance and protect the park.
Now, the Quebec government must honour its promise to finance a park slab, which will link the Falaise St-Jacques to the green spaces on the other side of Highway 20, in the Sud-Ouest borough. In addition to creating an ecological corridor essential to the development of biodiversity in the area, this north-south link will open up the sector. NDG residents will be able to walk or bike to the Sud-Ouest borough and take advantage of its green spaces, particularly along the Lachine Canal.
For several years now, our administration has been working with the Quebec government to make this project a reality. It's time for them to take concrete action to make their commitment a reality.
Sign to show the Quebec government that the park slab is a priority for the people of NDG and Loyola.
