Saint-Laurent
Youssef Shoufan is a communicator, photographer, and filmmaker committed to putting his talents at the service of social change and justice. Having arrived in Saint-Laurent in 1994, Youssef lived, studied, and worked there for nearly 20 years, while also leading various projects, including a photo exhibition in 2017 for the inauguration of Place Rodolphe-Rousseau, showcasing the portraits and stories of dozens of residents of Saint-Laurent.
Deeply rooted in his community, he collaborates with institutions such as BAnQ, Cirque du Soleil, Éducaloi, Exeko, and the Pointe-à-Callière Museum. He also co-founded La Maison de la Syrie and the international collective Syrian Eyes of the World. Through his cultural, educational, and community projects, he amplifies the voices of marginalized people and builds bridges between communities here and abroad.
A Gémeaux Awards finalist for the show Decolonizing History, which he co-hosts, and twice a recipient of the YMCA Peace Medal, he is recognized for his sensitive and humanistic approach. A father of two, he wishes to put his experience, creativity, and attentiveness at the service of a more united, inclusive, and inspiring Montreal.

The Team
Saint-Laurent
Saint-Laurent is a dynamic and diverse borough. A hub of innovation, with its cutting-edge industrial and technological center and two CEGEPs, it also embodies the cultural richness of the metropolis thanks to its population from all corners of the world. Here, young people grow up in welcoming schools, families enjoy green spaces and communities come together around solidarity initiatives. In a nutshell, Saint-Laurent represents the vision of an inclusive, sustainable and equitable city: a place where the local economy thrives, where active and collective mobility takes root and where every citizen has a place.
