A committed feminist, mother of two young children, and long-time advocate for an inclusive city, Cathy Wong became the first woman to serve as President of Montréal’s City Council in 2017. She later joined the City’s Executive Committee, where she was responsible for diversity, the French language, employment inclusion, and the fight against racism.

A lawyer by training, she chaired the Jeune conseil de Montréal and the Conseil des Montréalaises, and contributed to the work of several boards of directors, including Juripop, Concordia University, Tourisme Montréal, and artch-contemporary art.

A former reporter for the show La Course Évasion autour du monde, she continued her commitment to the cultural sector as Vice-President at Telefilm Canada from November 2021 to June 2025, where she championed issues related to Official Languages, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion.
