Jean François Lalonde
Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension
A geographer by training, Jean François Lalonde has over 20 years of experience in local and regional economic development. He began his career in 1995 at the Société de développement Angus, where he worked first as an advisor and later as Director of Business Services. In 2001, he became Executive Director of the CDEC Rosemont–Petite-Patrie, a position he held for 14 years. There, he coordinated major initiatives such as the revitalization of the Beaubien cinema, the development of the Health Technology Campus, and the creation of the social economy enterprise Cyclochrome.
A seasoned manager recognized for his unifying leadership, since 2015 he has headed PME MTL Centre-Est, a key organization supporting businesses and collective projects east of Boulevard Saint-Laurent. His collaborative, results-oriented approach has helped sustain hundreds of local initiatives, always with particular attention to community roots and social impact.
Jean François decided to take the leap into municipal politics to continue his commitment to communities and actively contribute to the transformation of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension. Convinced that economic development must serve inclusion, equity, and the ecological transition, he aims to build vibrant neighborhoods where everyone can find affordable housing, start a business, move around safely, and fully experience city life. His vision: a mayor’s office grounded in reality, attentive, and able to work hand in hand with other levels of government to accelerate projects that improve residents’ quality of life.
