Véronique Fournier

JD_Véronique Fournier is a recognized leader who has been dedicated for nearly 25 years to shaping and developing human-scaled cities. Since 2014, she has served as Executive Director of the Urban Ecology Center, where she has initiated and led numerous innovative projects across Quebec — including participatory budgeting, participatory demineralization, and blue-green alleyways — all designed to foster climate adaptation and strengthen local democracy.

A former city councillor for the Sud-Ouest (2009–2013), she spearheaded the second Griffintown PPU, the borough’s first housing inclusion strategy, and played a key role in grassroots mobilizations for neighborhood- and environment-friendly urban planning.

With a career that bridges local development, social economy, and municipal governance, she is also a co-founder of Piétons Québec and serves on the boards of several environmental and social economy organizations. A resident of Saint-Henri for more than 20 years, she now seeks to put her experience and leadership at the service of Sud-Ouest residents to address the challenges of ecological transition, social inclusion, and sustainable urban planning.
